Synopsis of the novels

SYNOPSIS OF THE NOVELS


“Tayno Cubao”
The author, through reliable historical documents, manages to interact with real and fictional characters. How did they catch to the cacique Hatuey, symbol of rebellion Taino? Were there two caciques Caguax, or two Hatuey’s captains? Does the Taino ethnicity survived the Spanish conquest to the point of keeping their native roots? Was father Las Casas honest about his writings on the West Indies? What factors influenced the excessive use of force by Christians, or Spanish conquistadors? Through an agile and vivacious language, the author answers these and many other questions thanks to an engaging story and discourse that will appeal to readers.

"Body of Spirit"
 The plot takes place in Havana at the beginning of the third millennium. Gary, a young Cuban painter, suffers Syndrome Blank Canvas, who is trying to minimize it through his uncle Febles, owner of the boat Daydream, who is an experienced fisherman licensed 50s to fish on the northern coast Havana. Gary is inspired by the seabed to enrich his imagination of artist, who is far away in a migratory adventure beyond the sea horizon. He is lucky enough to find a mysterious cylindrical object trapped by the reefs in Boca Chipiona, Santa Cruz del Norte, area the wreck of the Spanish frigate "Navigator", based in real events, it occurred on February 4, 1814, and it being victim of looting from fishermen and divers, etc., where Gary discovers a cylindrical object that appears to be related to the wreck. It is a look at the visual arts, from figurative painting to abstract painting through various facets more where the ambition, the plagiarism, the fame, merge with history and make an encounter with the true artist.

"Breath of Wind Attentive"
The plot unfolds in a nursery room where some children are engaged to play in a small fishbowl. To do this they used toy packages in plastic and lead miniatures, as "The village of Magcaguas", and "Scientific expedition of Engineer SABA", beings made of wind and water that sniff their homeland from a distance. Absurd elements like elephants resting on the snow, butterflies fluttering in a snowstorm, crocodiles swimming in icy waters, etc., where the imagination of children goes beyond the aspirations of the characters, handcuffed and prone to disappearances in each habitat, where the stroke of effect, or the unexpected, it will to the reader a second reading in end developer about each miniature toy.

"Quinta de la Caridad" (Operation ¨Fula¨)
A marriage was dedicated write letters with different targets. He dreams that will come out of prison. Former Manager Jaime Sardinas thinks he is right and his wife believes he will return to the restaurant El Bodegón whose revenues were in dollars. Captain Veitía and his assistant Rodriguez, will try to make realize the dream of a marriage of two children. The culprit that the former Manager is in prision commits a murder in the Quinta de la Caridad , a mansion whose owner left the country in 1959 and this residence was given to people who had not to live. Captain Veitía and his assistant Rodriguez will investigate the crime scene where they fall face forward with a precarious reality: drugs, prostitution and illegal businesses teem unchecked, besides dreams and hopes to betting for a better life.

As reported by the Foundation Bartolomé March, the novel presents a "quick and lively style, tasty cubanismos, and phonetic touch of different talks from Havana and references to customs and products of the local ordinary life." It was selected from a hundred works.

"The Stamp"
An enthralling thriller where two young men meet again after many years. One of them is criminalist; the other a murderer in series who puts a stamp on the forehead of their victims and shoot them to the genitals. Captain Veitía, and his assistant Rodriguez, will be responsible to decipher the letters of the stamp and inclinations in the forehead to portray to the murderer by interviewing witnesses. A narrator character and friend of the murderer of the stamp he will be narrating and describing the reader to show them the author of serial crimes.

"The Twin Case"
After catching the murderer of the stamp, the captain Veitía and his assistant Rodriguez will travel to an intricate rural school looking for two sisters, Katia and Kenya Hernandez and his girlfriend, Sandra Suarez, from the same classroom, which were missing the education center. Through unexpected twists, interviews with students and teachers, the reader will discover a love story, a separate family, and a pair of perplexed criminologists in which was a junior high school.

"The Country of the Ciguaraya"
A Spanish couple travels to Havana. She is of Cuban origin and shows to her loved one various historical places of the city, as well as bizarre places. However, they cannot share their privacy in a dollarized hotel and they will make the decision to hire a rent a room of a Cuban family hotel. Her husband rented a bike and he went for a walk around the outskirts of Havana and so, he disappeared. Intriguing thriller where the captain Veitia and his assistant Rodriguez will attempt to decipher the dialect lucumí from the murderers in an illuminating ending.

"Friendship is a Street of Havana"
Sergeant Rodriguez waits in the comfort of his comfortable home, a new murder case. Sergeant Rodriguez receives a novel from a neighbor where the characters of Osmel Brito and Chava Henriquez, obsessed with emigrating without success, are obliged to consult the Babalao Alfonso, which will reveal their destinations, where they will know characters of marginal and intellectual world.

"Prisoners do not Drink a Bowl of Soup"
Jabico, Asere and Monina, three marginalized characters, narrate from the patio of a place of men without women why they committed killings and how they were captured by the captain Veitía and his assistant Rodriguez. There are three stories of humor and resignation where it is advisable to consult the Glossary of cubanismos to the end of the book in order to understand the words and phraseology of these three characters in each story whose outcome enjoins us to reflect.

"Separate Illusions"
Captain Veitía during a short vacation, he feel lazy and decides to read again Anguish Coat, a novel confiscated by customs of a Cuban airport that a friend gave him. This novel is about the Suarez family, who lived in Havana and believes that within 72 hours they could reach Miami. First they have to scale across multiple airlines of the Lesser Antilles. But they remain bogged down on the island of Antigua where they will decide to travel in a precarious boat toward one of the US Virgin Islands in search of the Cuban Adjustment Act.
